Hyperbaric chambers have recently been discovered to be a potential treatment for many forms of cancer, including lung, prostate and breast cancers. These chambers contain extremely high levels of oxygen, allowing many forms of cancer to thrive in a more environmentally controlled environment. While this technology may one day lead to the cure or prevention of many different forms of cancer, there are currently no clinical trials testing it for that purpose. Yet, the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) medical device is being used by military doctors and others involved in the medical industry to find more effective ways to treat their patients.
This quackery was first revealed when two Italian scientists claimed to have found an incredible cure for all forms of cancer. The two based their claims on an experiment in which they exposed human cancer cells to low levels of oxygen. As the cancer cells grew in the laboratory, they reportedly noticed a dramatic decline in the growth rate and spread of the cancer cells. There has been no confirmation from the FDA or any other medical source as to whether these claims are true. This hype has since spread into the alternative health field, where quacks claim to have discovered the cure for almost every disease known to man.
While it is possible that the claims of this quackery are true, finding the cure is not likely. As I said before, there is no current clinical test for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. There are two main problems with this treatment. The first is that there is currently no effective treatment for all forms of cancer. Although this treatment theoretically can find a way to prevent certain forms of cancer from forming in the first place, the effectiveness of the treatment is in doubt. The second problem is that the chamber for treatment does not work. The chambers work by putting extremely high levels of pure oxygen into the body. Scientists believe that a cure for cancer is not possible, but this does not mean that the hyperbaric chamber for cancer treatment is not a useful technology. The chamber has been a great technological advancement when it comes to treating various forms of cancer. It is important that the patient completely understands that the hyperbaric chamber for cancer treatment is not a cure for cancer, but is a treatment for cancer. Therefore, any time that a person is considering using this type of treatment, he should also understand that he will not be cured completely. If a person feels that his life can be better through chemotherapy, then he should ask his oncologist what effects the chemotherapy will have on his body when it is administered in the hyperbaric chamber.
This type of treatment has shown tremendous potential in helping to fight the spread of certain forms of cancer. However, if a person only uses the hyperbaric chamber for cancer treatment and ignores other factors such as diet, exercise, stress levels, and other environmental factors that can affect his health, then he may be at risk for other health problems such as organ failure or even brain damage due to lack of oxygen in the body. Therefore, it is vital that patients get to know their bodies and discuss treatments with their oncologists before deciding which treatment is best for them.
